hi i have a 1995 2.0l galaxy and have noticed that the rear heater only ever blows cold i have checked the faq,s but can only find info on aux heater for diesel galaxys..

my front vents blow hot air and works correctly however when i press the button on the dash to switch on the rear heater

all i get is cold air from rear blower no matter which fan speed i select, i have replaced the temp and fan speed control switch on the roof just behind the front passenger seat but its still the same only cold..

can anyone give me any information about why this is my galaxy does not have aircon but does have a switch which controls the front fan speed that when pressed turns on a orange light buts thats about it

i have checked my owners manual and repair manual but neither of them explains why i can only get cold air from the rear

any help or advise you can give me would be greatly appreciated

thankyou

thanks for the info i will check the pipes under the car tomorrow and update you

,, my fan motor works so i wont have a fuse problem however if yours does not work at all after pressing the on button on the dash which is a picture of a car showing heat from underneath then could be i suspect your fuse or the motor its self

If the rear unit fan blower works, then the fuse (F4 - 20A) is not at fault as this supplies the fan motor and the stepper control unit that controls the temperature flap.

The temperature control on the passenger overhead control unit is a potentiometer that connects via 3 wires back to the stepper unit in the passenger heater unit. Two more wires on the stepper unit are ground and a 12v supply from fuse F4 via the master disable switch on the dash.

So, things to check are

1. Are both coolant pipes connected to the rear heater hot (near the rear) indicating you have coolant flow through the heater matrix.

2. Have you got 12v on the stepper unit between the black/white wire and brown wire.

If these are OK then maybe the stepper unit is faulty or the flap is jammed

The rear blower isn't working at all. Is the fuse under the steering wheel?

the fuse for the rear blower and rear blower ac is under the steering wheel central fues box number 33 for aux rear heating and 34 for rear blowing ac

owners manual link > http://ebookbrowse.c...673327ddab7f9dc

there is also a relay numbered 1 but check the manual link

right my heater is now working with nice hot heat checked the manual and it says to activate heat from the blower you must first have the recirculate button to the on position which is the orange light in front fan speed controls so i pressed that and after a few mins hot air coming from back blower my problem is solved thankyou all for your help

Replaced fuses but now when I turn the ignition on the boot opens :( v weird

Check wiring in all door (mainly drivers as that gets opened most) and hatch gaitors. The insulation is prone to cracking/breaking and wires can then break or short together. This is well documented and can lead to all sorts of strange electrical problems. There are topics in the Frequently Asked Questions Section dealing with repairing the wires.

I would think the problem is in one of the tailgate gaitors. On my car the majority of wiring damage has been in the rear passenger door gaitors.

I stand (OK sit) corrected. Fortunately I (tempts fate) haven't had this problem yet, though I'm sure it's just a matter of time!
